Stowe Center in the News

Stowe Center Executive Director Katherine Kane lent expertise to a recent news story in Bethesda, MD where researchers discovered a building foundation associated with Josiah Henson, an author, abolitionist and minister born into slavery in 1789.  Harriet Beecher Stowe used Henson's story -- as well as that of other slaves -- as inspiration for the character Uncle Tom in her most famous novel.
